Luis Suarez desperate to see his old club Liverpool clinch glory this season

Jurgen Klopp greets Luis Suarez at Wembley before the International Champions Cup match.

Luis Suarez insists his bond with Liverpool will last “a lifetime” as he declared: “Every player would like to train under Jurgen Klopp.”

It's nearly five years since the Uruguay international left Anfield when he completed a £65million move to Barcelona.

Since then Suarez has won three La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Catalan giants.

However, he retains a close interest in Liverpool's fortunes and is a big fan of the progress Klopp has masterminded at Anfield.

Suarez, who scored 82 goals in 133 games for the Reds, is desperate to see his old club clinch the Premier League title.

He told German football magazine 11FREUNDE: “Anyone who has ever played in Liverpool remains connected to the club for a lifetime.

“The team plays terrific football and I am very interested in how they will do this year. I think we can still be prepared for a lot.”

Asked if he would like to play for Klopp, Suarez added: “Currently we work for two different clubs so that's not an issue for me at the moment.

“But sure every player would like to train under Jurgen Klopp.”
