Barcelona plan to sign Boateng in shock deal

Gianluca Di Marzio claims Barcelona are on the verge of signing Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo in a shock deal.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are on the market for a new striker after selling Munir to Sevilla earlier this month.

The reigning Spanish champions want cover for Luis Suarez and have already been linked with a number of strikers across Europe.

However, it has now emerged Barcelona have agreed a deal with Sassuolo to loan Boateng for the remainder of the season.

Barcelona set to sign Boateng in shock deal

Barcelona will have the option to make Boateng’s switch permanent in the summer in a deal worth €8m (£7m).

The 31-year-old only join Sassuolo in the summer and has scored four goals in 13 league appearances for the Serie A side.

Boateng scored 10 goals in 28 league appearances during a sole La Liga campaign with Las Palmas as recently as 2016/17.
