Manchester United enjoyed a buoyant end to the September internationals as Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku struck in their nations' victories.

Rashford converted Kyle Walker's 54th minute cross to end England's run of three consecutive defeats in their drab 1-0 win over Switzerland at the King Power Stadium. Rashford previously netted in Saturday's defeat to Spain but the 20-year-old is about to serve a three-match domestic ban with United after he received a red card at Burnley.

England coach Gareth Southgate kept Rashford on for the full 90 minutes in Leicester while Jesse Lingard replaced Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the 61st minute.

The voracious Lukaku scored twice in Belgium's 3-0 stroll in Iceland and stayed on for the duration. Lukaku, 25, now has 43 goals in 77 international appearances and, despite his profligacy at times, has three in three starts for United this term.

David de Gea started in another Spain masterclass as Luis Enrique's side vanquished World Cup finalists Croatia 6-0 in Elche. Croatia started the majority of their World Cup finalists yet were annihilated by La Rojain one of the more surreal Nations League results. De Gea played the full 90 minutes.

Across the Atlantic, it was a proud night for Andreas Pereira as he made his Brazil debut in their 5-0 thrashing of El Salvador in Washington.

Pereira said on Instagram: "Do you know that dream that does not stop pulsing with your heart? Well, this shirt... this shield is my dream every day. Thank you, my God, for this opportunity!"

Fellow United midfielder Fred emerged at half-time for the Seleção after the £52million signing started against the United States in New Jersey at the weekend.

Luke Shaw was United's only notable casualty during the internationals but could return for the Champions League group stage opener against Young Boys in Bern next Wednesday.
