Zinedine Zidane gets vote of confidence from president of Real Madrid Florentino Perez

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has given under-fire Zinedine Zidane a vote of confidence.

The two-time Champions League winning coach is feeling the heat after the weekend's 0-0 draw against Athletic Bilbao kept Los Blancos adrift in the title race.

Barcelona dropped points in their 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo on Saturday, but Madrid were unable to close the gap.

They remain eight points behind their great rivals, while both Valencia and Atletico Madrid sit above them in the table. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have had struggles with form and injuries so far this season.

Despite the slow start, Perez remains convinced that Zidane is the man to lead Madrid to glory.

He said: "We have a team to keep dreaming with a wonderful trainer in Zinedine Zidane who has achieved everything with Real Madrid, the team of his life.

"He is one of our great symbols, one of the biggest icons who brings together the values and talent necessary to be the leader of one of the best squads we have ever had, captained by Sergio Ramos and Marcelo. They, too, are examples of our values."
