The Catalans are flying high in La Liga and are a whopping 11 points ahead of their arch rivals.

A win for Barca would strengthen their position even further and all but end Real’s title hopes.

And, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Suarez wants Barca to go for the jugular against Los Blancos.

He could be at odds with his team-mate and pal Lionel Messi though.

Reports yesterday suggested the Argentine superstar has secretly told the dressing room that a point will be sufficient.

But in public, Messi is rallying the troops.

"It would be important to win for what it means, it's always a special game," Messi said.

"Real Madrid, their stadium... winning is an important advantage.

"There would still be a lot of league games left, but it would be nice to be able to end the year with a victory and spend a happy Christmas."

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde says Paco Alcacer's absence is unfortunate, but he’s still confident going into the crunch clash.

"It's a setback that we didn't expect. Overall the game turned out well but's a real shame about Paco," Valverde said.

"But we're going into (El Clasico) happy.

“We have a week to prepare for the game and the best way to approach the Madrid match was to put in the kind of performance we had today.

“Secure three points and boost confidence and morale.

"We are in good shape but we know that we are in for a complicated game against a huge rival.

“We'll prepare for it well because we are determined to put in a good performance."
