Cristiano Ronaldo missed Real Madrid training for the second consecutive day ahead of Saturday’s clasico with Barcelona.
There are fears the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could miss the game at the Bernabeu after training alone again after hurting his calf during the Club World Cup final against Gremio on the weekend.
A club statement read: “Cristiano Ronaldo worked separately from the group, while Luka Modric also trained alone out on the pitch as he continues his recovery process.”
Real have not confirmed what the injury is but Ronaldo admitted he felt some pain in his leg following a heavy tackle by Gremio captain Geromel but said after the game that he was confident that he would recover in time to face Barcelona.
Speaking after the match, Ronaldo said: “I felt an issue in my calf in the second half, but I kept playing. For sure on Saturday I will be fine.”
Zinedine Zidane’s side are currently 11 points behind their La Liga rivals and back in fourth place, meaning this weekend’s clasico is crucial to Real’s chances of retaining their title.
Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema are fit for the game however, with the Welshman in line for his first start since September.
