PSG to move for surprising Manchester United midfielder

Jose Mourinho

According to a report from French outlet Le10Sport, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Controversial figure

30-year-old Belgian international Fellaini has been at Old Trafford since making the move from Premier League rivals Everton in 2013.

The burly midfielder was often singled out for criticism from the club’s fans during his first few seasons at the club, with his clumsy displays out of keeping with what the Red Devils faithful have come to expect from their midfield stars.

As such, Fellaini was heavily linked with a departure from the club during the summer, with Turkish giants Galatasaray having looked the most likely destination.
‘Too important’

However, Jose Mourinho slammed the door on a potential exit for his Belgian powerhouse back in July, claiming that‘he is too important’ to be allowed to depart.

Fellaini has responded with improved showings over the first few months of the current campaign, and has already racked up 4 goals in 10 appearances between the Premier League and Champions League, just 4 of which came as starts.

Nevertheless, the Standard Liege youth product, who only recently made his return following a month on the sidelines, continues to be linked with an exit from Old Trafford.
Paris bound?

Fellaini’s contract with United is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club once the winter transfer market opens in January.

And, as per the aforementioned report from Le10Sport, French giants PSG are looking to take advantage of this situation by making a move for the 80-time capped international in the new year.

The capital outfit are well aware that Financial Fair Play constraints will limit their spending over the coming transfer windows, making the arrival of free agents at the Parc des Princes all the more appealing at this moment in time.
