Ronaldo missed Real’s first four league games of the season through suspension but has yet to find the net in his three appearances since returning. The attacker did, however, provide an assist for Isco in the 2-0 victory over Espanyol last weekend.

As reported by AS, Zidane said: “He’s not tired, he has missed a lot of games. He is very disappointed because he hasn’t scored yet but this is football. That pass to Isco was phenomenal. I hope that in the next game it changes for him.”

Goals haven’t eluded Ronaldo completely this season – he has scored eight times in total when his exploits in the Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup and at international level are taken into account.

However, the 32-year-old will be eager to start scoring with regularity in La Liga, with Ronaldo renowned for his prolific nature in front of goal.
Although he has mainly been used out wide throughout his career, Ronaldo has been deployed as a central striker by Zidane in several recent games.
Real are back in La Liga action after the international break when they face Getafe away.
