Chelsea already planning for life after Antonio Conte

The directors at Chelsea Football Club have again proven that they don’t know a good thing when it smacks them directly in the face.  In the vein of De Bruyne, Lukaku, Matic and Mourinho they are apparently searching for Antonio Conte’s replacement.

In a move straight out of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest or any David Sedaris novel Chelsea are reportedly preparing an offer for Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri. Despite the fact that Antonio Conte has taken the club back from the brink of madness and planted them back on the top of English football Chelsea are apparently planning for his dismissal.

No one says that Sarri is a bad coach. In fact, he’s phenomenal and one of the best coaches in Europe. His team plays fantastic football and even Pep Guardiola is impressed saying that Napoli “is one of best teams I ever faced as a professional.

That is why I am so proud because you cannot beat Napoli unless you produce a good performance”. But Chelsea surely know that getting rid of Conte is a move in the wrong direction. Conte is a great coach and exactly what the club need.

Chelsea’s biggest enduring problem is player power. The fact that Michael Emenalo and his associates cannot seem to recognize this does suggest they’re not doing Roman Abramovich or Chelsea any favors other than wasting his hard-earned fortune. Getting rid of Conte who has done a great job re-establishing the chain of command that every football club needs.

The fact that while Conte has only begun his second season and yet Chelsea are already preparing to replace him is a travesty. When the club spent years preparing for Pep Guardiola he turned them down because the club had too much chaos to truly succeed at the fundamental and philosophical level that allows football to be played at the highest level.

If Chelsea fire Conte, regardless of the fact that Sarri is a good manager to replace him with, it will be a sign that no one has learned a thing at Chelsea FC and the club will still be as many miles away from its potential as it has been for years of mismanagement.

Genuinely sad for every Blue.
