Spanish news outlet Diario Gol suggest Valverde is considering resting the Uruguayan for tomorrow's clash with Eibar. 

Messi, however, has other ideas.

And Diario Gol say he’s asked Valverde to keep him in the first XI.

The former Athletic Bilbao boss could consider changing his system following Ousmane Dembele’s injury.

The French striker is expected to be sidelined until the New Year with a hamstring injury.

He will undergo an operation in Finland tomorrow.
