Paris Saint-Germain defender Dani Alves has explained his part in the squabble between team-mates Neymar and Edinson Cavani over a free-kick in yesterday’s 2-0 victory over Lyon.
Neymar and Cavani were arguing over who should take a free-kick, with Alves subsequently grabbing the ball as he wanted to take the set-piece himself. However, Neymar subsequently ended up taking it.
As reported by Marca, Alves said: “I took the ball because I wanted to take the free kick but then Neymar took it away.”
Despite the disagreement between Neymar and Cavani, PSG managed to prevail with a 2-0 victory courtesy of own goals from Marcelo and Jeremy Morel.
PSG have made a flying start to the season, winning all six of their games in Ligue 1, scoring 21 times and conceding on just three occasions.
Manager Unai Emery has an array of stars at his disposal, especially following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but the 45-year-old must ensure that his squad are able to work together in harmony.
As reported by The Sun, Neymar has seemingly unfollowed Cavani on Instagram following the row.
Next up for PSG is an away game against Montpellier on Saturday.
