Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho wants ‘clear-the-air-talks’ with Jurgen Klopp this week after accepting his dream of joining Barcelona will not materialise this summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian handed in a transfer request earlier this month in a bid to force through a move to the Camp Nou but Barcelona have since had two bids rejected for the midfielder.
The Catalans’ were confident that Liverpool would accept their last offer of £114million but the fact that it was rejected suggests the matter is more about principle than money at this late stage of the window.
Coutinho is yet to feature for Liverpool this season due to a ‘back injury’ and he’s unlikely to make a return for Arsenal’s visit to Anfield on Sunday.
Barcelona are said to have seriously cooled their interest in Coutinho following their last bid and this has left the Brazilian in an awkward situation on Merseyside.
According to the Independent, Coutinho has requested talks with the club this week to ‘clear the air’ as all parties aim to move on from the saga.
