Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence commits future to Real Madrid by insisting: 'I want to win trophies again with my club'
Cristiano Ronaldo has nailed his colours to the Real Madrid mast after previously suggesting he wanted to leave the club.
Reports back in June revealed Ronaldo was keen on sealing a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu because the club failed to back him over tax fraud accusations.
However the 32-year-old forward has now said he wants to add to the 11 trophies he has won during his eight-year spell at Real Madrid.
Ronaldo, speaking to AS, said: 'Winning major trophies with my club last year was great, just like the individual trophies.
'Doing it again would be fine.
'You have to work hard, year after year, I will continue to do it. Football is my life, it is my passion.'
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were both said to be in the running to sign the Portugal international until he had a change of heart.
Madrid president Florentino Perez admitted Ronaldo was left 'angry and hurt' after accusations from the Spanish authorities that he had evaded £12.9million in tax.
Ronaldo informed the club that he would leave if he was convicted of tax fraud and even held a secret meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, just hours before scoring twice in the Champions League final win over Juventus.
But AS said at the start of July that Ronaldo has chosen to commit his future to the Spanish and European champions.
Ronaldo is yet to join back up with his Real Madrid team-mates, who are currently touring America, as he has been given an extended break after appearing at the Confederations Cup.
His first game back in a Real Madrid shirt could come against former employers Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup on August 8.
