Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo has advised Neymar to wait on a move to Old Trafford rather than join Paris Saint-Germain during this summer’s transfer window.

The Brazil international has been strongly linked with a move away from Barcelona this month with Les Parisiens willing to match his staggering £195m release clause.

Neymar has notched over 100 goals during his four-year stay at the Camp Nou, but he is eyeing a move to a new club where he would be considered as the main orchestrator in the attack. According to Diario Gol, Ronaldo, now at Real Madrid, has sent a series of WhatsApp messages to Neymar warning him against a move to Parc des Princes.

The four-time Champions League winner feels that the switch would be a downward step for Neymar with Paris Saint-Germain being a smaller club in stature participating in a less competitive league.
Les Parisiens have dominated the Ligue 1 in recent seasons, and it was not until last term did AS Monaco end this run with their attack-minded football.

Manchester United have been previously associated with a move for the South American stalwart, and Ronaldo has advised the 25-year-old to wait on a potential transfer to the Red Devils. United will have to break the Financial Fair Play rules in order to pursue Neymar this summer, and a transfer approach looks highly unlikely with the business already done.

Jose Mourinho’s side have signed defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku for combined sum of £105m during his summer’s transfer window.
