Ernesto Valverde is just three weeks away from taking his first training session as Barcelona's new coach and so far the club have failed to make a single significant move in the transfer market, with the exception of buying back Gerard Deulofeu from Everton for £10.5million.
The incoming 53-year-old manager has put Marco Verratti and Hector Bellerin at the top of his wish-list but as it stands, Barcelona seem to be relying on both players forcing their way out of their respective clubs.
Last season ended in disappointment with just a Copa del Rey in the trophy cabinet while Real Madrid won the league and Champions League double.
Many supporters thought that would spur the club's sporting director Robert Fernandez into immediate action.
A new coach usually gets a welcoming present too; Luis Enrique welcomed Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic when he took over three years ago.
But with the countdown to the first day of pre-season on July 12 well underway there are more questions than answers over how Valverde's new squad will shape up at the end of this summer.
The new man arrives with his own backroom staff of assistant manager Jon Aspiazu and fitness coach Jose Antonio Pozanco.
