Chelsea have prioritised signing Romelu Lukaku this summer and believe they can talk Everton down from the Toffees’ £100million valuation, according to reports.
Antonio Conte is keen on signing a centre forward this summer and added both Lukaku and Alvaro Morata to his wishlist.
Morata, 24, is out of favour at Real Madrid and is receptive to reuniting with Conte at Stamford Bridge.
However, though Chelsea know Lukaku is the costlier of the two options, the Blues will push ahead with a club record deal for the Belgian, according to the Evening Standard.
Everton want a world record £100m for the striker but Chelsea believe they hold the cards, given Lukaku is refusing to sign a new deal.
Any deal for the Belgian will smash the £50m Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres in 2011 but Conte has funds to spend after offloading Oscar in January.
Morata is said to be aware that Chelsea have cooled their interest and is exploring other options as he looks for a route out of the Spanish capital.
