How is their form?

These are the two form sides in the division, each unbeaten in 2017 in the league.

Barcelona are unbeaten since Oct 2, while Atletico haven't lost since Dec 12. But poor form for both sides in November and December has meant they are having to chase down table-toppers Real Madrid.

However, Barcelona's recent humbling in the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain has left manager Luis Enrique with a point to prove.

If Barcelona draw with or beat Atleti, they will go above Real Madrid and head the table - at least unless Real Madrid visit Villareal in the evening; an important psychological boost.

With Diego Simeone's Atletico needing a win to keep alive any hopes of a title challenge this season, it should make for an intense contest on Sunday.

How have they fared against each other recently?

A 1-1 draw in September at Camp Nou saw Ángel Correa equalise for the visitors after Ivan Rakitić's first-half opener.

More recently, the two sides fought out a two-leg Copa del Rey semi-final earlier this month - with Barca emerging victorious.

Having seized the initiative with a 2-1 away win at the Calderón in the first leg, Barcelona clung on in the second and reached the final courtesy of a 1-1 draw - finishing the match with nine men.

In that last visit to play Atleti, Barca put themselves 2-0 up inside 33 minutes. A similarly fast start is their best bet again on Sunday.
